Anne Celeste Heche (c-eniconˈheɪʃ ; born May 25, 1969) is an American actress, director, and screenwriter. She started her career in the 1980s when she landed her first major role in the hit TV show Another World. Her performance made her a well-known actress at the time and Heche won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 1991 for her role, after being nominated in the same category for the part in 1989. After her work in the show, she appeared in several films such as The Juror (1996), Donnie Brasco (1997) and the horror remake of Psycho (1998). Thoughout 1990s, she became widely known for her same-sex relationship with comedian Ellen DeGeneres that lasted three years, until they broke up in August 2000. Heche wrote and directed the Emmy Award-nominated HBO movie If These Walls Could Talk 2 (2000). The following year, Heche got a part in the film Prozac Nation (2001), and she then appeared in the action thriller film John Q. (2002). Heche was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role in the TV movie Gracie's Choice. In her late career, she has done appearances in the films Spread (2009) and The Other Guys (2010). Heche also portrayed the starring role in the independent romantic comedy film Cedar Rapids (2011). |
